There is no Sanskrit word which would embrace all practices for such parts of human being as memory, attention, senses, thoughts, intellect, or individuality. \n\nOnly about a hundred years ago the word meditation became connected with yoga. But now we are using it. (And we are not talking about objects of meditation, but about different types of conscious psychological activity)<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We counted around 70, regardless of synonyms.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">70 techniques, each of which has its own name and a specific manner of performing, references in classical texts and a specific purpose.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Vijnana Bhairava Tantra alone there are 4-5 different types of meditation, just like in Vishuddha Magga.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8c7dda6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8c7dda6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a wide sense, meditation (psychopractice) is first of all an exercise (abhyasa). According to Patanjaly, each <strong>abhyasa<\/strong> (exercise) contains <strong>repeatability, constancy and duration of effort.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most important thing is effort. Shiva Sutra says:<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bad34bf ekit-equal-height-disable elementor-widget elementor-widget-elementskit-image-box\" data-id=\"bad34bf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"elementskit-image-box.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ekit-wid-con\" >\n            <div class=\"elementskit-info-image-box ekit-image-box text-left style-sideline\" >\n\n                \n                <div class=\"elementskit-box-header image-box-img-left\">\n\n                    \n                <\/div>\n                \n                <div class=\"elementskit-box-body ekit-image-box-body\">\n                    <div class=\"elementskit-box-content ekit-image-box-body-inner\">\n                                                                <div class=\"elementskit-box-style-content\">\n                        <b>Practitioner (sadhaka) is one who makes an effort (yatna).<\/b>                    <\/div>\n                                    <\/div>\n\n                            <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n    <\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d59cc2e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d59cc2e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, what should you focus your efforts and exercise on?<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We can distinguish three places which are the three levels of mind, which correspond to the three levels of the psyche in the broadest sense of the word.<\/span><\/p><p><strong>The<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong> first level is &#8220;physiological&#8221;,<\/strong> determined by the genotype and partly by activity in early childhood.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At this level, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">there<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are the qualities of various mental functions:<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5cbedaa ekit-equal-height-disable elementor-widget elementor-widget-elementskit-image-box\" data-id=\"5cbedaa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"elementskit-image-box.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ekit-wid-con\" >\n            <div class=\"elementskit-info-image-box ekit-image-box text-left style-sideline\" >\n\n                \n                <div class=\"elementskit-box-header image-box-img-left\">\n\n                    \n                <\/div>\n                \n                <div class=\"elementskit-box-body ekit-image-box-body\">\n                    <div class=\"elementskit-box-content ekit-image-box-body-inner\">\n                                                                <div class=\"elementskit-box-style-content\">\n                        \n \u2022 speed of thought,\n<br>\n \u2022 memory capacity,\n<br>\n \u2022 resistance to emotions and their intensity,\n<br>\n \u2022 dynamic volume of attention and its fatigue, etc.\n                    <\/div>\n                                    <\/div>\n\n                            <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n    <\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-33 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-6ea0961\" data-id=\"6ea0961\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1a18ad0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1a18ad0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<strong> second level<\/strong> is functional or methodical. It is not about mental physiology, but about the skills of correct performing certain interpsychic operations. Example:<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a28220a ekit-equal-height-disable elementor-widget elementor-widget-elementskit-image-box\" data-id=\"a28220a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"elementskit-image-box.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ekit-wid-con\" >\n            <div class=\"elementskit-info-image-box ekit-image-box text-left style-sideline\" >\n\n                \n                <div class=\"elementskit-box-header image-box-img-left\">\n\n                    \n                <\/div>\n                \n                <div class=\"elementskit-box-body ekit-image-box-body\">\n                    <div class=\"elementskit-box-content ekit-image-box-body-inner\">\n                                                                <div class=\"elementskit-box-style-content\">\n                        \n \u2022 memorization or recall techniques,\n<br>\n \u2022 logic and methodology of intellectual research,\n<br>\n \u2022 techniques of argumentation and reasonable doubt,\n<br>\n \u2022 techniques and methods of self-control in the emotional sphere.\n                    <\/div>\n                                    <\/div>\n\n                            <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n    <\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6b06f41 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6b06f41\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Correlation of levels is quite obvious &#8211; a person with a good speed of thinking is effective if he\/she thinks methodically correctly. Otherwise, it drives the &#8220;processor&#8221; in vain. Although, provided a person has the right techniques, he\/she is more effective than an untrained person.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meditations at this level are the development of the internal culture of memory, thinking, emotions, etc. The practices on this level also affect the first level due to the plasticity of the brain.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<strong> third, highest level i<\/strong>s existential. Here we have:<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-28d4b6f ekit-equal-height-disable elementor-widget elementor-widget-elementskit-image-box\" data-id=\"28d4b6f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"elementskit-image-box.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ekit-wid-con\" >\n            <div class=\"elementskit-info-image-box ekit-image-box text-left style-sideline\" >\n\n                \n                <div class=\"elementskit-box-header image-box-img-left\">\n\n                    \n                <\/div>\n                \n                <div class=\"elementskit-box-body ekit-image-box-body\">\n                    <div class=\"elementskit-box-content ekit-image-box-body-inner\">\n                                                                <div class=\"elementskit-box-style-content\">\n                        \n \u2022 real motivation (which is the basis for actual ethical choices),\n<br>\n \u2022 worldview,\n<br>\n \u2022 attitudes towards certain types of reactions (from behavioral to intellectual) to external factors.                    <\/div>\n                                    <\/div>\n\n                            <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n    <\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6c5e80f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6c5e80f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This level is the most important one, but is unattainable without the previous ones. No wonder the &#8220;Yoga Sutra&#8221; begins not with &#8220;subtle&#8221; meditations, but with an epistemological description of the correct methods of cognition belonging to the second
