Kashmiri Shaivism itself is the most prominent system in the Tantric tradition, and Abhinavagupta is the foremost exponent of Tantric philosophy. Since Abhinavagupta is a Tantric philosopher, it is quite appropriate, even necessary, to give an introduction to the Tantric tradition.
